spoilers? Is it possible to get pnv in a normal game? If yes, where is it approximately located

(+1)

Pnv?

(+4)(-1)

Easter Egg Spoilers Ahead

For anyone with a morbid curiosity, let me save you the trouble. If you microwave Maxwell long enough he fucking explodes into chunks. But as they say, cats have multiple lives, so you can input him in the console again to find him.

what if i do this 9 times?....

(+4)

Ok, very funny Dr Nose. If you try to hop onto your ATV from a decent height now, you'll ragdoll like normal but with an added "squish" sound.

Ow, my balls.

(+1)

Dr. Kel grundle confirmed

(+7)(-4)

is there a possibility of adding multiplayer? i understand its a pain in the ass on unreal, but god the idea excites me

(+2)

dr.nose said that they are not going to be working on multiplayer anytime soon they are busy working on other things.

(+7)(-2)

understandable. no pressure

(+1)

On the bright side, over on the discord for this game and the other games made by nose, people are making surprisingly fast progress on modding VotV 0.6.2. It's possible (but not guaranteed) that someone insane and talented in equal measure will figure out how to mod in multiplayer at some point.

(+1)

Could you give an example of one of these mods? Curious as to what people can do

(+8)(-1)

In an older version you were able to scroll in the console using the arrow keys, bringing that feature back would be nice.

So I wasn't imagining it? Yeah that would be nice

(-1)

we need prototype 1 (if possible)

(+14)(-2)

Add seasonal changes, like autumn and winter and when you go out after it snowed add something like creepy footsteps and other markings in the snow and stuff.

(+1)(-3)

its actually good idea man

(+1)

every time i try to drop the item im holding, it just says not enough space no matter where i am. the only way i found to actually drop them is to ragdoll

(+2)

Left Alt + R to place an item you're holding.

Left Alt + Left Click to throw the item you're holding.

my player interface is not showing aka hunger, sleep, fps. help!

Check the video settings tab, there's a checkbox to hide interface.

Wow I feel dumb I looked in all the tabs like a hundred time thanks

(1 edit) (-6)

the game stopped working even if i reinstall, and i wanted to ask if this was due to the fact that this is a demo, and were i would find a full version.

also when is the full version going to be released ?

(+1)(-1)

Best part of the new update (0.6.1 as of writing this) is this singular switch that was added to your control panels. Not gonna say what it does because I want it to be a surprise, but it fixes one of the biggest problems I've personally had in 0.5.2

helloo, I'm unable to pick the resolution 5120x1440, it's not listed

(1 edit) (+2)

According to the "Help" menu in the pause screen, if you head to "Appdata < Local < VotV < Assets" You can see a text document labeled "res" which contains the resolution options. You can add your own there simply by adding an extra line that says "5120x1440" I added my own there to avoid having my monitor going to black while switching back and forth from my desktop, which is "1366x768" which had a VERY close default option of "1360x768"

Thanks, much appreciated

new update is sick. but is there a chance you could put a terminal near each of the generators?

i'm a bit directionally inept so once i get to the generators i just kinda have to backtrack to a satelite to figure out where i'm going next and that eats up time and makes heading out to repair them a little bit more annoying

(+1)

There's a map you can buy with 150 points, or you can try to sketch out a basic map yourself in the real world to remember the general locations of areas, but that would probably require your compass to be "sv.target reset" so it points north.

You could also remember the general locations of generators relative to satellites, then look around for a power cable when at said satellite. Although it would still be nice to have a server at the generators to check if a server went down while I was out.

you can 'sv.target' the transformers specifically

you just use their tr.check name so TR_1, TR_2 and TR_3, if I remember correctly.

I just 'sv.target TR_1', go to the transformer and cycle it. Then find the closest satellite and type in 'sv.target root' which directs me back to base (there is a server in the base with the name ROOT

I advise buying a beacon in the shop and leaving it at your base! It'll give you a little blip while you're on the ATV and you'll get home easier

(-9)

so i just started a tutorial

then i went to first room

then i finished the first room and took 2 canisters with me

after that i went into the second room

there i assidentaly thew 1 canister and got stunned

understanding that there is a posibility of thowing canisters i decided to throw the second one

i thew it and it exploded

after that i went to the first room to refill my canister supply

in a moment of picking up a canister i saw that upon the water there is a platform

i decided that i really need to get there

so i picked up the table and placed it under the platform

i understood that i can not climb to the to unless the table is placed vertically

i placed it vertically

i understood that i can not climb the table when it is placed vertically

so i went into the second room and tried to take a box

first box dropped and broke

second box rolled and broke

third box was dragged to th stairs and broke on the first touch

so i had only one choise

i needed to take a table to the first room

meaning that i need to drag it thru the stairs

those stairs are round and the table is heavy

i was dragging it for at least 20 minutes

in complete silence

in this time i learned about hunger

after the torchure i put myself thru

i finally got the table to the first room

i placed it next to the vertical chair

climbed it even thou i fell few times

but in the end i was on top

i acomplished it

so i went in the small hall in the back of the platform

i walke thru it with feeling of intrest

and what did i get?

a jumpscare

a stupid

ugly

filthy

jumpscare

i will give this game a second chance

only because my friend said that its fun

(+10)

krill issue

(+3)

skill issue

(-5)

the base is locked by a keypad and there's no clue to what the code is

(-4)

i climbed onto the roof to drop into the garage, only to be greeted with another keypad

(+8)

there's a note at the front entrance that say's the keypad code is 1111

(+1)

I lost the ATV, is there a way to resummon it or do I have to restart?

(+7)

sv.target vehicle

(+2)

I was wondering why "sv.target atv" wasn't working when I saw it in the patch notes.

(+3)

Very game. Has the mood I like. Enjoyed how the game used isolation to slowly turn me into a feral creature that jumps up to grab and eat roaches off the ceiling.

hey I just got the game and not feeling the will to just scroll down to the bottom of the page just to find the answer so I'll just ask now

what makes money/points and how do I get it quickly?

Deleted post

alright just one more thing I forgot where do I find the transformers so I don't go into the void

(+2)

There are three ways that I find them. Either I remember where they are relative to satellites, use "sv.target TR-X", X being the transformer number, or you can follow the power cables from that generator thing outside of your base.

I have a problem with the game, it worked normal on the previous version. There is a blue/green filter on the game making the colors inverted or something. I really dont have idea whats causing this. Any help would be appreciated.

(+1)
try setting hue to 0 or 360 in the video tab

Oh my god that worked, thank you soo much!!!

(+3)(-1)

When this game works, it's great. Really atmospheric, really eerie, and can be downright terrifying is some moments. But I have a lot negative experiences with it. For example the hunger system is really annoying. I know the dev is trying to make you micro manage more, but I feel like taking care of the satellites, servers, stamina meter, and daily tasks is well enough. It's extremely tedious and only brings my overall mood down in the game, even when it gets to the thriller parts. It's hard to get immersed in existential horror when you can't even see the horror because you keep falling over from hunger since you forgot to buy an MRE today. (if there's a way to disable this, please god tell me)

I also do not like that data processing is not enabled at the start of a game. I find it incredibly unintuitive still, even after taking a break from this game. I spent a good while trying to figure this out on my own, and after twiddling my thumbs for 2 hours I ended up skimming a youtube walkthrough of the game just to figure out that the computer level upgrade needs to be bought first and then you can process stuff. I wish this was better explained to me. I went through the tutorial in game, and to my knowledge I saw nothing telling me this crucial bit information.

There are other issues I have that make me say "Why?" but these are probably my two biggest complaints. I really try liking this game because I love the concept of this so much, but holy moly there are some parts that make me want to pull my hair out in frustration and I become so detached from the immersion that I stop playing this after a couple hours. But if I can get past the annoyances, I know I'd most likely binge play this game for an entire game. Like I said before, when it succeeds in immersing me, oh my god it's fantastic.

(+2)

There's a shit ton of MREs in the supply boxes around the entire map to the point where you don't have to buy food for a very long time. (I'm on day 7 and have an entire nightstand filled with MREs and another 10 in the fridge.) Grab a hammer and use it to break supply boxes.

(+1)(-1)

Thanks for the info, I still sorta wish for a way to downright disable hunger as a necessity.

Can't seem to get any satellite hashes to print out properly. every time I try to use the hash command it just says "hashcode" with nothing more

Did you try going to the satellite server? You can't do it at the base.

You can only get the hashes of satellites you have a task for, and you don't get your first task until day 2.

(+2)

This game is great and chill until it's no longer chill, then it's AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Good job

(+1)

Hey, the mood of this game is awesome.  Hit me up if you’d like me to make a soundtrack for it, free of charge.  Seems like it would only need to be ambient, and only play occasionally. Discord: mrjackpots6055

(-2)

I made an WIP playlist that goes pretty well with VotV. Listen if you want.
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6pVbpMumIRCeJwkV3pCAvT?si=ac0831ec04154301

Love the New updated Look and Control aswell as optimization to smoothness gameplay . But the download speeds even with almost max upgrade are heavily slow . And the mannequin can get super aggressive to the point jump scares are no longer . Overall I'm a big fan non the less... Jewco live

(+1)

Did you try doing that "sd.calall" command or whatever it is? Since I realized that myself a while back when my downloads were taking several hours. And besides, you can sleep off any excess time or go out and do some random things like microwaving a battery.

Yes that was the a later time idea I tried , but to no avail I still had slow downloads but when the doc is asking for 5 signals a day it kinda hard to cook microwave battery's lol 😂.

A strategy I learnt was, for the daily tasks that ask for things like 3 level 0s, then 1 of each later level, you could use the "Save Signal" feature. So instead of getting 6 signals for 6 drives, you just need 3.
Get a signal, download it, save the level 0 signal and keep the original. Go to the computer then copy that signal back onto a different drive (Should have a yellow light), then you can start researching *that* signal up to level 1-3, saving them and keeping the originals as you go.
TL:DR, you can't sell drives that are copies of the original, but you can upgrade them to be higher, original levels.

(+1)

Did a full story playthrough of the 0.6.1b update (previously played a much earlier version), and I like the majority of the new stuff you've added plus things you've changed.

Positives:

The transformers give a good reason to leave the safety of the base more often, without being too tedious or annoying to handle.
The new models and textures for the signal consoles, PC and servers are great, and I love the 80s-inspired designs.
The new cloth physics on the curtains make them actually look and move like curtains, rather than metal siding on supports.
Being able to upgrade the radar and detector helps make them much more useful, as does the new elevation map on the radar.
Most of the new buyable modules help a lot with removing tedium and making things easier once purchased.
The various new events and entities really spice things up, and keep you from feeling too safe or jaded.
The new inventory, equipment and tool systems are fun to use, as are the now-functional keypads.
All the new additions to the map make it rewarding to take  time away from signal hunting and server-fixing to do some exploring, and are interesting to visit with useful items to take from them.
Being able to refund upgrades and modules at a slight loss helps if you're in a pinch and needs supplies desperately, as does the 5-point reward for each server fixed.
A few peculiar things I won't spoil add some mystery and intrigue that I love, and I'm excited to see where they'll lead in the future.

Negatives/Issues:

The point fine system is still annoying, and I personally don't think it should be enabled by default. Getting enough points to buy most things takes enough time without the issue of some of them being removed if a report bugs out, or you forget something minor.
The drone crate drops violently exploding when they are dropped is odd. It makes the crowbar a bit useless once the big supply crates are all broken, and results in losing some purchased items frequently if you make the mistake of ordering some more-delicate items in bulk or with other heavier items (buying more than one gascan at the same time = explosion that obliterates them all when they collide on spawn).
A lot of the food items now seem to be pretty useless, not providing enough hunger points to be worth the cost, and MREs are the only one I found to actually be worth buying. A whole lot of points were lost to restocking MREs, and trying to diversify resulted in nonsense like the shrimp disappearing overnight while kept in the fridge, which might be intentional but still sucks a bit in my opinion.
A few modules and upgrades are pretty useless, like the signal autosave, radar history and radar alerts. The radar alert in particular seems to just be a "please annoy me when anything spawns or moves into range" button.
Not being able to gently drop held items makes handling anything fragile a pain for no good reason, and your only option is to ragdoll carefully, while hoping physics stank doesn't destroy it and/or you.
One specific wieldable item being made of wood means that accidentally destroying it is all too common, especially for something that seems like it's meant to be a reward for being observant as you explore. Unless of course it's just a joke, in which case no problem.
The way that volume works with the backpack makes it annoying to wrangle most of the time, since you have to dump most or all other items with notable weight in your inventory out just to pick it back up and re-equip the backpack. Any other equipable items let you just right click while holding to equip, but it opens the backpack's inventory instead, which I guess makes sense but is a bit unnecessary, would rather it just equip the backpack like any other item.
Hooking items to your ATV tends to get stuck with said item being attached forever, unless you reset it from the save file selection menu. Might just be me being a dummy and missing how to unhook things, though.
Getting curtains to hang over things like the base windows is a total mess, even when the collisions seem like they should allow it. Only way I could figure out how was to use a garbage can as a support under them until the physics settle, then remove it from below them.

Despite the long list of gripes I have, I really enjoyed my playthrough, and I got very immersed in it despite any minor issues and weirdness. Looking forward to future updates.

>Not being able to gently drop held items makes handling anything fragile a pain for no good reason, and your only option is to ragdoll carefully, while hoping physics stank doesn't destroy it and/or you.

you can, pressing alt+r gently places down the held item, it tells you this in the tutorial

Oh, whoops, guess that's just me having a bad memory then, thanks. I did the whole tutorial, but it must have slipped my mind somehow.

(+1)

MREs are the worst food you can buy if you're concerned about cost effectiveness. Shrimp are the best, but since aliens will eat them when you're not looking it's best to buy them on a per-case basis instead of stockpiling them. Personally I just buy a bunch of cakes and put them in the fridge.

MINOR SPOILERS:

So uhhh I've gotten to Day 30 and haven't been able to save or sleep for the last 2 days despite nothing special happening ( minus the brownies ) and a entity that I can only see on the radar who isn't moving at all from its spot ( around 271 , 390  didn't find anthing there other than a tree ) can't tell if this is normal or my games fucked :w:

EDIT: Had to quit after the sleep demon caught me in his domain and didn't let me leave o7 ( my man really didnt want to sleep anymore ) But now whenever I load my save it throws me at the starting gates but still doesn't let me pause or save or sleep :w:

(+1)(-8)

Will game be optimized or ported to android? I'm just have a bad laptop and in game i have 5-10 fps max

(+6)

...android?
You 'avin a giggle m8?

(+2)

Android? As in the phone? No I don't think it will, ever.

I can't seem to find the skull at the gravel patch near Lima. It's there in Sandbox but not Story for some reason, pretty sure I never moved it either.

Edit: Created a new Story save, went straight to the spot, still not there. Did a flag get accidentally set for it to not spawn?

Edit 2: So I reset objects in the fresh save. Apparently when the bones and skull in that area spawn in they can just go HAYWIRE. I saw several bones and the skull get flung into the distance. The skull in my save is probably out there, but god only knows where. (Nevermind, found it, though it was some distance from the intended spawn.)

Yea, sadly that is a common issue the game seem to have. The physics should honestly be disabled with the exception of gravity for the first load in. I once found that skull all of the way down in the river. It doesn't help the skeleton is on the side of a hill.

(+1)

If you're having trouble finding an item you can make a copy of your save, convert it to sandbox and then delete all trees/grass (by looking at a tree and using the destroy target option in the cheat menu) to make searching for it easier. That's how I found a skull that my ATV sent flying back in 0.5.2

I have noticed that the physics in 0.6 are weird with items randomly flying off surfaces in my base.

That's actually a good idea. Will note that for the future.

This game needs some sort of in-game explanation on how to use custom things

(+6)

There is, it's in the help menu.

It tells you what and how to use the custom content.

(1 edit) (+1)

i learn'd about this game through a friend. its great!

if you consider launching the game on steam i wish you the best of luck!
(oh yeah and also please add something so you can rename the robot he is very silly)

(1 edit)

Custom file (pictures, music, ect.) folders don't work or generate automatically, I tried adding the folders manually (and checked they were named correctly) and they still wont load.

(+2)

They work differently now. Check the help section of the menu.

This is so fucking rad

saves don't save signal progress so game crashes can be devastating. :/

(+2)(-1)

Will we ever get controller support? I know the terminal would be hard to use but my idea to solve it is to select from a list of commands, then select the arguments choosing from a list of the valid arguments for said command.

Also the door passcode could maybe be entered with a button combo instead if the player is actively using a controller?

(+1)

You could, in theory, do a combination of controller and keyboard for right now if you use another program like Steam to convert controller inputs to keyboard inputs. Only thing is that typing still won't work without some sort of on-screen keyboard like Xbox or Playstation

how do i start the story

(+2)

complete tutorial

(+4)(-1)

I wish you the best start if you ever consider steam and i hope this becomes a multiplayer expirience too. I've only watched Joel play it, then i started playing it and then i got hooked up and played it for 3 hours straight.

(+1)

New player model in case ya'll were wondering:

(-3)

ok i change my mind they look like they have scabs on their wrists

How did you get the camera to work

activate it then press yellow refresh button on the "camera" tab of pc
