Love this game, only complaint i have is the odd sorta "THIS IS A JOKE RIGHT????" emails. Theyre just really annoying to get, especially when i have no clue what they even mean by that. It just feels like im doing something wrong and not being told why? Every time it happens I have zero clue what I could have avoided... or done better. It would be nice if they explained which tape in question made them say such a thing.
"IS [object 0] A JOKE???? I CANT UNDERSTAND IT!!!??" would be a little better.
i think most likely you are submitting signals with a level of 0. nothing wrong with it as they are asked for most of the time but the guy listening to them would be hearing static garbage, so the response given isnt too crazy. upgrading your computer level with allow you to start processing signals. submitting higher level signals will give emails that are more positive.
Yeah I made it farther and haven't sent any Lvl 0s for a bit, so I haven't had the issue of getting bullied via email lmao. but uh, I just think it would have been nicer to know why I was messing up haha.
Had a crash where I couldn't ALT+TAB / WIN+TAB / Ctrl+ALT+Del in task manager, select Voices Of The Void, end task didn't work / down in the task bar, right click, close window for the game didn't work either. The game was unresponsive, coudn't exit from the pause menu. Had to hold down power button.
Just before all this happened my corsair lights went all stock rgb, like the software crashed and was messing up my system. Idk if that was the cause of the crash, or the game interacted at some point with my system. So maybe take a look at that for any conflicts?
Also my save files keep losing signals saved on my laptop. Also make sure to finish a signal and remove it from any usb port and leave it on your desk before quitting. It might delete your signal stored if it's still plugged in.
I am also very sure I have reported the 2 daily signals correct, the hash code thinghy. Dr. said it was wrong and to re-check Delta. So I did and re-written Delta Hash code, put in on a box and sent it empty. It was still wrong. Maybe I had to re-write the entire report again?
Other than that, I really really hope you keep developing this game, as I am presonally looking forward to it and when I feel like you're definitley committing to it, I might just fund it myself ^_^ (i.e not abandoning it, or at least making it's way to steam or something)
I thought I was mistaken when my chinese food was eaten, but the aliens just ate all my shrimp as well. Is there a fridge or something to keep these menaces out?
The controls as they are, are very confusing, I don't remember half of the button combinations and doing the polarity thing just broke and it wouldn't stop spinning.
I love watching people play this game, but I cannot seem to get a grasp on it myself. Please dev, if you see this, make the mechanics for finding signals less confusing and simplify some of the keybinds.
Above the blue buttons is the polarization knob that switches between 3 different settings. The polarity filter you need to find could be in any 1 of these 3 modes, so switch between the different polarizations if you're having trouble.
To start, make sure you press the top blue button, and then hold down E on one of the knobs (I like the +5 knob). Make sure you keep holding E the entire time if you want to keep control. Use your mousewheel to scroll up or down, until you see the output data climbing to 100%. Once you get near 100%, make sure your offset speed is at 0 (by using the mousewheel), and hit the blue button again to lock it in.
The frequency filter is similar but also much easier since there's only a single range to search. Just press the 2nd blue button, press E on your preferred speed knob (I like +10), and try to get the output data near 100%. Then lower your offset speed to 0 again (using the mousewheel), and lock it in with the blue button.
You don't even have to be perfect about it. I settle for 80% accuracy on both setting all the time.
This game has a wonderfully unique premise and is very addicting! I do sincerely hope that for the final release the game takes itself a bit more seriously though, having the various Doctors in your e-mails suddenly start talking like 20-something memelords having a conversation over Discord is incredibly immersion-breaking every time it happens and I only excuse it because the game is in such an early state of production; if this isn't changed by 1.0 I'll be very disappointed and soured on a game that as far as I'm concerned has the potential to be a break-out hit!
Pls help me! My game is bugged and my progres is deleted! I had 100 points and a bunch of everything. I saw the (original) cheat menu and wanted to use it, but it says "illegal action". Help me with the (original) cheat menu.
please. PLEASE add a feature that helps me find the ATV if lost. I loaded in and it's nowhere to be found. It's on the radar but i cant find it. Thanks.
The aliens stood outside my windows for 10 hours and I accidentally let them in because I wasn't aware turning lights off also opened all of your doors and they proceeded to kick me across the floor 70 times at 100 decibels until I found a rock outside and beat their ass.
unsure if its just me being unable to understand the game or my game itself but i can never get the filters to work? ever. in the actual game or tutorial. its kinda hard to play the game when you cant process any signals. no matter what i do or what knobs i turn or how slow i go i cannot get it to move from 0% :(
I'll attempt to be more cohesive in the details while still providing your required aid.
Firstly, know that all of the options are part of the 'Download' category, meaning that it functions thanks to that power input. Filters are divided into two portions, the hud & the knobs. The closer they are to to 100%the faster the decipher & download will be.
Before you begin filtering, you'll need to keep in mind that you require to divide your attention to both scrolling the knobs, while looking at the screen progress; so initially, you can try to focus on one filter at a time; but later Upgrades can help you facilitate, automate and even haste this process.
This entire process is rather autonomous, but one of the easiest to accomplish for its automatic work once found.
All the needed steps will be as follows:
Activate one of the blue buttons on the far, bottom left (If pushed down = ON)
Move through the different ranges, by using their right knobs. If nothing occurs, swap using the top knob and change from the different values of: Left, Right & Centre.
If you notice a spike, then you're on the right type. Attempt to slow and move it as close to 100%
Once found however: Please remember to deactivate the button as to not reset it's percentage.
Repeat same steps as opposite button.
Hope this has helped. Let me know if you need aid on this further more. I'll gladly do my best!
1- Like Nord said below, both of the square blue buttons have to be pressed first (pushed down) 2- The top red polarity knob has three "channels"
If you're able to see the target values changing when you use the scroll wheel, then you should see the % change too, unless the square blue buttons aren't pressed.
I haven't tried the TV yet but I have done the radio and one of the picture frames.
For the radio you need to buy the (offline) one from the store. Then in your VOTV folder there is a music/radio folder where you can drop MP3s. Using Alt+E on the radio will alternatively turn it on/off and pick a new track (I think it's random).
For the picture frames there are more folders for the horizontal, vertical, square, and tiny frames. I'm having issues with the square frame, but managed to get the vertical to work. You can put multiple PNGs (haven't tried JPG) in a folder. I just followed the naming convention of the default image and it worked for me, lets me cycle through them with Alt+E in-game
The current version has a bug where it doesn't create the assets folder. I recommend joining the discord and looking at item #9 in the votv_faq channel. There is a download there with the default files.
Well maybe as a skin, i know, it's funny. But there is just a problems like:
1) By the lore, our character is Dr. Kel, the game itself is not trying to stop us somehow when we to look at ourselves with camera or something, so we can and need to see and know how does he really looks like. By the official info, (even saw from wiki too), current model is just a placeholder, as many things in the game by the moment. Plus, our body have physics, we can fall, ragdoll and roll down from something to somewhere, we can ride ATV, sit, sleep (without anything right now, just standing), hold items and using them and even wear something.
2) In the multiplayer gameplay there will be need to have more recognisable things in us for understanding who is who when just nicknames are will not be enough (good if there will be option show/hide it), it may be added by using like colour of default skin and like Dr.Kel's clothes like in Gmod (good if COOP comparable with any of game modes including sandbox(idk about tutorial, but why not))
Sorry for VERY long comment, i know current model is KEK)))
IF need be, you're always able to turn off them for a proper boost of performance, as well as reducing options such as the game resolution still in the same page.
I do not shame, nor feel shunned for doing so; it somewhat gives the game a more unique and nostalgic Source 'vibe'; while providing me with the enjoyment of experiencing this wondrous thing!
Super fun game. Have been watching Joel playing and I had to try it myself. I have two problems tho: I have some performance issues on my mediocre laptop (usually cant get more than 20 fps) and what i call the "ghost bed" bug (which joel also got), which in my case made it get stuck on a wall.
shadows are extremely performance heavy, if your having performance issues i recommend turning them off, also the bed is still functional aslong as its not upside down
Look man, the game is really fun. The gameplay loop is alot better than Signal Simulator, it's 1000 times more intuitive, but the food system is annoying as all hell. The whole ragdoll-ing when hungry thing is just excessive, and makes it impossible to do anything. And I get that it's a punishment for not eating, but you don't even supply me with enough food from the beginning of the day to be able to save up enough credits and buy myself any more food.
If you got rid of the ragdolling and replaced it with a different and less annoying system (maybe like just slowing the player down a-lot) then this game would be a easy 10/10 for me.
This is the first time I've attempted to provide any sort of feedback in this platform, which has been troublesome to me, given it's layout. But nevertheless, I'm here to aid you in your dilemma.
Yes, all the things you said are true. The system's very encumbersome to handle, which DOES limit a vast percentage of players fun. However, it isn't that you have little options to restore hunger, but that it drains too quickly; which in turn, causes you to set up and micromanage a daily routine, that, given the limited resources of points, will bring longer wait-times & faultier systems that'll inadvertently cause changes and constant checkups that you'll need to insert somewhere along the day, making it overall a rather grueling thing to monitor over.(Which is all thematic and something I do enjoy in a way to handle!)
But I've been able to find many solutions to this. And as long as it provides fun to you, it'll hopefully be worth it. Here's a list of things that might help you.
Before you even start the game, you can head to the settings 'Game' options, and "disable punishment fee's". This makes it so you no longer get penalized harshly, which drastically calms the game's challenge, making it so that you're no longer in an eternal grind attempting to survive in a remote location.
Before you play a specific gamemode you can reset certain aspects of a save, this includes "Resetting Player's Bars & Position". This will make it so you'll have all the bars filled up and be teleported at the center of your main research station. (Rather helpful as a type of one-way teleportation too!) However, know that doing so will reset and remove all the items on your inventory. (Also it may nullify your entire download of a signal too, so use it discreetly)
Past the Garage's Keypad door, the nearest drawer's filled with rocks. Carefully try and pick one, equip and hold left to constantly smash any supplies crates around your Station. (Takes usually 40-ish hits, hadn't counted, apologies.) Each unit contains a varied amount of MRE's, repair disc and some giant clumps of coal (which I think provides nothing as of yet.) This makes it possible for you to stockpile food; and given the previous points I mentioned, lets you conserve it for longer days.
At the Pylon outside of your Base, at the top there's a crate. You can drop it and carefully carry it inside as well as the drawer in your Bedroom to conserve any mushrooms you find scattered along the trim edge outisde of your base. Just press E + Alt to put them in your inventory, so you won't be eating them off the floor. This IS the main way to survive during the day, making you conserve MRE's for when you're at a high low on energies.
Just eat a few and conserve the rest in clumps. Mushrooms stored in this way, prevents them from 'rotting'/dissipating from existence when left outside.

When reaching day 12 on Story mode. You unlock "Sandbox mode". In there you can have more casual fun than in the other modes as it lets you spawn and use some cheats, such gaining points, refilling stats, noclip as well as an eternal food item. Just be more cautious to not spoil the thrill of discovery however
And lastly..
If you need, I can provide you with my save file. I accidentally reset it to the start, and its now at Day 2. But has all of the above stuff already cleared up and neatly stored in a fine order.
I hope this helps anyway, really felt the need to write a type of guide/support thing. Hope this reaches out to you!

Where 32bit version boi
Can you actually run this game on whatever card you have running on your 32bit system lmao? The game is running on Unity(?) after all.
i know good games on unity and they works in 32bit
It runs on Unreal Engine 4.

Bought it today. Been playing for 4 hours, Good Game. Excited to see how the game develops further.
Only recommendation is to add a I'm stupid at maths setting that simplifies or replaces the maths minigame.
Also for any linux users that might be interested in playing: use proton
it has to download too.
Both the Detector Status and Download have to reach 100%, I believe.
Been playing 0.5.1 for a few days now.
Had a crash where I couldn't ALT+TAB / WIN+TAB / Ctrl+ALT+Del in task manager, select Voices Of The Void, end task didn't work / down in the task bar, right click, close window for the game didn't work either. There's a bedside table with storage in the bedroom/bathroom, and a crate on top of the tower next to the base. Any of these will work.

restart your days and try again helped me
Does anyone else get their signal progress/processing progress completely reset on a hard load? Is this the norm for now?
Edit: It completely wipes the data from processing too. Hope you saved the signal to your laptop!
Edit 2: Something ate TWO cartons of my Chinese food???
but also, a known bug is that the crates (and all wooden items, really) keep breaking on impact when the drone drops em'
yeah! quit not attempting to hide spoilers!

Is the joke Joel download a functioning copy of the game? Or should I get 0.5.1_5?
d052_gray is a shitpost, if you want a normal gameplay get a d051
Gotcha, thanks.
please. PLEASE add a feature that helps me find the ATV if lost. I loaded in and it's nowhere to be found. It's on the radar but i cant find it. Thanks.
Try buying the digital map. But yes, it would be nice to have way to tie it to our compass like how you can do so for towers.
You can also click "reset" on that saved game and select the "Vehicle" checkbox. It'll be out of fuel, but it'll be in your garage waiting for you
The aliens stood outside my windows for 10 hours and I accidentally let them in because I wasn't aware turning lights off also opened all of your doors and they proceeded to kick me across the floor 70 times at 100 decibels until I found a rock outside and beat their ass.

I'll attempt to be more cohesive in the details while still providing your required aid.
Firstly, know that all of the options are part of the 'Download' category, meaning that it functions thanks to that power input.
Filters are divided into two portions, the hud & the knobs. The closer they are to to 100% the faster the decipher & download will be.

Can someone explain to me how I can change the pictures in the frames and how I work the radio/tv?
Thanks, I'll be testing that stuff out later!
It seems like only PNG's work. I tried a few JPG's and it showed a pink and black checker pattern. Same with GIF's sadly.
where do I find the music folder? Where I can put the music for the radio...
Look in "%appdata%\local\votv"
The current version has a bug where it doesn't create the assets folder. I recommend joining the discord and looking at item #9 in the votv_faq channel. There is a download there with the default files.
make sure they are png and throw them in the pic file you want to replace
A fairly common question I think is, but is it possible to implement a COOP mode for the game in the near future?
this idea has been suggested many times already indeed, and there is talk about adding multiplayer in the future
I think there has to be improvements in playermodel(s) for it))
What are you talking about?. those player models are pure PERFECTION!!!
Well maybe as a skin, i know, it's funny. But there is just a problems like:

ok fine... UWU catboy player model with differently colored hair then.

Sorry if my answer looked far too naive.
100%. When I first started the game, it ran fine while in the dark forest. And then once I turned on the lights in the base? Boom, toaster FPS.
Bought because of Jobel. Really neat ideas in the game, and looking forward to future updates, too!
Super fun game. Have been watching Joel playing and I had to try it myself. I have two problems tho: I have some performance issues on my mediocre laptop (usually cant get more than 20 fps) and what i call the "ghost bed" bug (which joel also got), which in my case made it get stuck on a wall.
