Um, it's a little more complicated than that. You won't be able to find these files until you show the "system files" (on the Internet, see how to do it). You will have an AppData folder in your "Users" folder and you will find everything there yourself already.
I figured out what your problem is, I had it too and it really will help.
The latest version of the game even tho I am running it on Linux Mint using Steam Proton Experimental runs wonderfully with barely any issue, however when I reached day 14, I suddenly could no longer access the option's menu via pressing escape, and sometimes after I launch that save it does work, but only for a short while then breaks anyway, sometimes breaking right after I load in, nothing in game seems to fix it, and it also makes me unable to sleep.
I don't know if this is supposed to happen or my game is just broken. Any suggestions to fix it?
only spooky signals in story mode are a bug that everyone is experiencing right now. the only way to fix the bug is by waiting for or skipping to November 3rd, though if you want points, the spooky signal's small size (0.666 mb, smaller than average signal by 40%) makes it great for hording and selling to dr. bao for daily tasks. you don't have to do that though if you just want to play the game normally.

There is a modloader made for the game, if y'all are really that desperate to multiplayer this game, wait for a modder to make it or make the multiplayer mod yourself.
short tutorial for linux users emulating: You can transfer save data from version to version by doing a device file search for s_[SAVE NAME, SPACES INCLUDED].sav. Once you find your save file (ex. s_uh oh spoky.sav), you can log the file directory, copy the save file to downloads, and move the .sav file into the same logged directory relative to the new VotV build.
a suggestion i have is being rewarded some points at the start of a new save for the achievements you have, it'd make achievements more useful outside of the save you got them in.
i'd like to here what the community of this game think and to give me CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM if you have something against this
the item box in the store is the veteran's fortune, it sells items back at 2/3rds (I think) of their buy value when you send it back with items a-la drive box- you don't really need bonus points when you've played enough to know what you're doing
i do think i have played enough to know what i'm doing (160 hours?) and the item box is a tool that everyone should utilize (it has a 75% sellback value), i was thinking about having points at the beginning of day 1 of the game to help speed up cleaning and signal processing.
I'd like items you can get only from achievement, like maybe giant burger for burger achievement or exclusive posters for hunting arials on the map, you can claim and put in inventory. Points are whatever, if you know what you are doing.
items you can only get from achievements would be a great idea; unique items you can claim for doing certain achievements. Maybe you could even claim a few event exclusive items from achievements? (e.g. gravity gun from an achievement idea i have where you make peace with the arirals)

lower the difficulty- higher difficulty speeds up the timescale (and thus reduces the story playtime so it's kinda punishing play in general imo), makes you starve and tire faster, but also gives bigger dailies and thus more bonus pay (but it's also way easier to screw up hashes and make no bonus), whereas lower difficulty slow timescale, starvation and tiring, and gives smaller and easier daily tasks but less bonus pay.
Honestly easy is the best for general gameplay if you aren't super hardcore and grindy, normal is fine too but it feels just a bit too fast
the only screamer I've encountered was a console easter egg you had to have been told how to activate, I assume halloween is probably safe. Screamers aren't really in the nature of the psychological horror of the game

It's awesome! One of my favorite games ever! I was streaming VotV to my bro yesterday and he sayed: "bro, I really want to play this game in coop, this game contains it?". I was upset at that moment, because I realized that there are no coop. But I hope that coop will be added in 7.0.0 or later and I will play VotV with my friends. Source engine games use asset sounds, like Valve downloaded them on the freesound.org i think, but either way, they are assets anyway, this game can use it, not only source games use those sfx
you only have those assets if you have an older version of the game- a fresh install does not have these assets anymore (thus the de-source-ified title of 0.6.2)
When will Russian translation appear in the game? I really want to play the game, but because of my poor knowledge of English, I can not enjoy the game properly. Although the game has the option to select Russian, but it does not work, as well as Swedish. Even when you switch the game to one of these two languages, the game remains in English..

as in missing microsoft's directx 11 framework? Some steam games install it automatically when they need it during the "first time set up" (installing the .net framework)- since you haven't run a game that has done this, you just need to download and install it manually from their website https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

I am getting the same problem, even on story and infinite mode all i am getting is the "spooky" signal over and over, and it is completely empty. No text data, no visual data, no sound data, no nothing
I think the lights are badly optimized because glowsticks do just fine. I suggest buying white glowsticks if you want it to feel like the lights are on, even if its a weaker light it still works.

you cannot pause or save your game during events to prevent missing or breaking them or evading being scared

To everyone saying that you only get spooky signals, you still get event, special, and story mode signals, so story mode isn't bugged
I am in story mode and have gotten 10 straight "spooky' signals. Not a single normal signal at all

normal signals are pointless for anything but selling and high probability, spooky signals just replace the normal ones

I just installed it but I get a message saying that it is already installed but it still doesn't work
I also tried to update the driver system and it does not update, DirectX11 still appears and I can´t open the game
