I thought so much that this was a Gamemode mod for Gmod or made on source in some way when ever I saw it, like, holy cow you nearly perfectly replicated that source feel.
The bug came when the screen became half blue and half normal game and then my pc froze for a unknown reason. So i hade to reset the pc manually.
When i opened VotV again the settings were all on 0 and i couldn't save any settings.(This is still the case)
Also i can't play the game. The only gamemode i can enter is tutorial mode. But the tutorial mode is only a black screen and it has no noise. I have tried to wait as long as i can but no hope.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled and looked in the files for the settings to somehow change them but to no hope as well.
Remember it's a hidden folder, so be sure to enable them. There will be a few files in there, one for each save from ANY version of the game and a "data" file. I can't say with any certainly, but if I had to guess maybe deleting the "data" file may help with any bugs resulting from game settings.
Please help me, I clicked in the send box in the cheat menu to clear all the attachments what should I do? I can't play anymore the tutorial is endless, I get an attachment that I have been trained after I want to play and I can't debug again cleared
A fantastic game fatally wounded by slow and frustrating progression. The point system as it is turns the game from a cool exploration sim into a chore sim and the chores aren't even fun. I really want to play this game because it's clear that there is a lot of fun stuff but it forces you to to spend all your time doing boring stuff over and over.
There are two really outstanding problems that I think could be easily fixed. First are the upgrades. Because more upgrades = more points, buying all upgrades as soon as possible is objectively better than buying fun stuff. you are basically forced to spend your points on things that make the chores less boring and that's not fun. I think instead of everything including upgrades costing points, upgrades should have their own currency that is earned alongside points. Maybe you get these points by finding unique signals or reporting hashcodes. This would free up your points to be saved and spent on cool toys and decor instead of minor improvements to the grindy parts of the game.
This brings me to the second issue. Driving from satellite to satellite is boring and the rewards you get are not enough to make it feel worthwhile. Sure it makes your downloads faster but that is repairing a negative not earning a positive so it doesn't feel the same. The points reward for fixing servers and reporting hashcodes needs to be substantially increased for it to feel worth it. For example after day 2 I just stop getting hashcodes entirely because a measly 50 points is not worth the effort.
In closing the game is excellent, but the parts that make it fun are locked behind hours and hours of very unfulfilling progression. I still want to play it after all I have said but it's just not fun right now.
It's not meant to entirely be an exploration sim, that's just one of the main parts of the game. Your critique isn't invalid, but I feel like the game is going for something other than what you want it to be. Some tasks are tedious and time consuming at first, but once you get into the swing of things it doesn't take long to get a daily task, drives, codes and all done. At that point the question is, do you go for more drives for more credits? I do agree that maybe, MAYBE, we should get a separate currency for upgrades and the store (not just "fun stuff"), but it would have to be a well implemented balance.
Your first problem is just you being incredibly impatient. the game ramps up in points literally as soon as you upgrade the machine that upgrades signals. you fill up an entire box with lvl 3's and you get like 240 points. you upgrade server reliablity, cooldown and sensor speed and you can download signals at the speed of light. AND your second problem is also impatience, Hashcodes increase in monetary value the further into the game you get. You earn at LEAST 100 points per hashcode a few days in, for the servers breaking though, lucky you! you can buy a robot that fixes all the servers for you, his name is Kerfus. Send him out and he'll fix all the servers for you. No need to play the game anymore and the mechanic that brings you outside so events can activate is now nullified!
The hashcodes get more valuable later? I'm pretty sure it's always 25 per. The only difference is that the difficulty settings change how many you get per day, with hard/++ getting you more and easy/++ getting you less.
i can't play the game, i getting the "Launch tutorial" achievement, but this achievement isn't count, and i can't play the other gamemodes, besides tutorial. help??
This game looks very good and well done so far, but i've encounter a problem very quickly because execept in the main menu, i cannot do anything in any interface other than press escape to close it.
It's pretty bad since i can't do anything in my inventory, cant save or leave, and the math mini game is a softlock.
Found out about this game through Joel's streams and had enough interest to check it out myself! Was unlucky enough to have the "Bad Sun" event happen on my first full day, and nothing can explain the pure terror within me as I shat my pants to the sounds of the alarms blaring.
Spooky elements aren't egregious or in your face, and the presence of just...something out there makes you on edge as you go about your daily tasks. I know this is reaaaallly some educational op-ed piece here, It's not like everyone doesn't know that already about this game--it's just (from my experience) unique and refreshing from a game; especially a horror-esque/related game. Hoping to put away the money to support this game soon, it is definitely worth it!

i deleted a 3d model on accident and now my game has fatal errors everytime i launch that save, yes i did try putting the 3d model back along with its texture
Ya'll use MREs? I just walk outside overtime and find circles of those white bally mushrooms, stocked a bunch of them, enough for at least 30 days straight.
i may just be missing something very simple but i cant start the story, ran trough the tutorial a few times hoping that would unlock it but no luck with that, is there something specific that unlocks it?
In the menu that shows up after clicking story mode you need to enter in a save name in the "Enter slot name" bar. After doing that click "Create" next to it and you should have a save to select.
I just experienced the worst time of my life thanks to this game.

I am on the day 18th and the Bad Sun event was just starting but out of nowhere the rain started, to my surprise the sun does not harm you because it is cloudy. There was a transformer that was running out and taking advantage of the fact that the sun was not damaging me, I went outside to fix it. The environment looked strange due to the high brightness but I found it amazing but the amazement did not last long when I went back to the base. When I was going back, I began to hear strange noises and out of nowhere everything began to get dark, it was the black fog event. Imagine everything illuminated but at the same time everything dark and lost in the middle of the forest knowing that if the rain goes away, the sun kills you.

I have this black screen issue. I was going to adjust something on the options.. I was going to make it look good until when i put Effects on max slider. Then the black screen came up, any suggestions
If you can find the specific file associated with the settings you applied and delete it, it may reset to default settings and you'll get visuals again. Otherwise, you may need to browse all the folders with VotV data, delete them all and do a fresh install.
I'm having an issue on build 0.6.1_b with the radio where if I use a radio link, it shows up but never plays, and if I use the .mp3s it just says loading indefinitely. I am on windows 11 and I had no issue with custom pngs working for posters and paintings.
we have custom audio, video, pictures, decals, and even 3d models (by the way incredible job with the 3d printer if you're reading this), what customization will be next?
After watching a lot of Joel's (Vargskelethor) VotV streams, I finally decided to try this gem myself. Loving it so far!
Anyways, sorry if this is a basic question (maybe I'm blind), but how do you upgrade the "Detector_Status" speed? Is it Detector Sensitivity, Quality or Frequency? My download speed is great so far (Download_Speed was self-explanatory), but the Detector_Status is always taking too long to finish (and screwing up my daily deliveries)... I haven't found any detailed explanations about the upgrades anywhere, so I've decided to give it a shot here.
Top tier indie game, top tier Vargskeletlor stream content. Fun to play, fun to watch others play. I recently found out about an easter egg that is a reference to a glitch/bug in Saints Row 2.... Love stuff like that. 👍

One tiny little suggestion, could you possibly make the '0' and the '8' more of a contrast to eachother in the server minigames? Too many times I've lost because they look so similar!
From videos, I've seen the game is good and I've tried downloading it, one small issue is that I can't run it (top fps is 10), I can tell you're actively optimizing the game, I've tried the oldest and newest version, I've noticed the fps gets better the further I go up in versions, so thank you for trying and good luck with development, I just hope some day I can play it myself.
Can someone tell me where to put the files for custom paintings and posters with the latest update? Older files had a folder for the paintings but I am not sure where I should put them in the latest update.
For some reason I get this bug where the GUI hitbox is lower than it should be, making it hard to navigate the pause screen and my inventory. Anyone got any idea?

Did you delete the save/game files? I forget where they are, appdata or something, on windows its a hidden folder.
If you mean "manifest_nonufsfiles_win64" i have already deleted everything but if you mean something else then i can't find it...
Can you say the names of the files?
Or do you know if there is a way to fully reset the game files somehow? But i don't know if that will help but can't know until i have tryed it.

But I can only play the tutorial now. The other gamemodes are stil locked.

Your first problem is just you being incredibly impatient. the game ramps up in points literally as soon as you upgrade the machine that upgrades signals. you fill up an entire box with lvl 3's and you get like 240 points. you upgrade server reliablity, cooldown and sensor speed and you can download signals at the speed of light. AND your second problem is also impatience, Hashcodes increase in monetary value the further into the game you get. You earn at LEAST 100 points per hashcode a few days in, for the servers breaking though, lucky you! you can buy a robot that fixes all the servers for you, his name is Kerfus. Send him out and he'll fix all the servers for you. No need to play the game anymore and the mechanic that brings you outside so events can activate is now nullified!
The hashcodes get more valuable later? I'm pretty sure it's always 25 per. The only difference is that the difficulty settings change how many you get per day, with hard/++ getting you more and easy/++ getting you less.

This game looks very good and well done so far, but i've encounter a problem very quickly because execept in the main menu, i cannot do anything in any interface other than press escape to close it.
It's pretty bad since i can't do anything in my inventory, cant save or leave, and the math mini game is a softlock.

Found out about this game through Joel's streams and had enough interest to check it out myself! Was unlucky enough to have the "Bad Sun" event happen on my first full day, and nothing can explain the pure terror within me as I shat my pants to the sounds of the alarms blaring.
Spooky elements aren't egregious or in your face, and the presence of just...something out there makes you on edge as you go about your daily tasks. I know this is reaaaallly some educational op-ed piece here, It's not like everyone doesn't know that already about this game--it's just (from my experience) unique and refreshing from a game; especially a horror-esque/related game. Hoping to put away the money to support this game soon, it is definitely worth it!

i deleted a 3d model on accident and now my game has fatal errors everytime i launch that save, yes i did try putting the 3d model back along with its texture

I'm nearly on Day 20 and I still have like a bunch of MREs and haven't needed to order food ONCE.
Ya'll use MREs? I just walk outside overtime and find circles of those white bally mushrooms, stocked a bunch of them, enough for at least 30 days straight.

i may just be missing something very simple but i cant start the story, ran trough the tutorial a few times hoping that would unlock it but no luck with that, is there something specific that unlocks it?
In the menu that shows up after clicking story mode you need to enter in a save name in the "Enter slot name" bar. After doing that click "Create" next to it and you should have a save to select.

If you can find the specific file associated with the settings you applied and delete it, it may reset to default settings and you'll get visuals again. Otherwise, you may need to browse all the folders with VotV data, delete them all and do a fresh install.

I'm having an issue on build 0.6.1_b with the radio where if I use a radio link, it shows up but never plays, and if I use the .mp3s it just says loading indefinitely. I am on windows 11 and I had no issue with custom pngs working for posters and paintings.
we have custom audio, video, pictures, decals, and even 3d models (by the way incredible job with the 3d printer if you're reading this), what customization will be next?

After watching a lot of Joel's (Vargskelethor) VotV streams, I finally decided to try this gem myself. Loving it so far!
Anyways, sorry if this is a basic question (maybe I'm blind), but how do you upgrade the "Detector_Status" speed? Is it Detector Sensitivity, Quality or Frequency? My download speed is great so far (Download_Speed was self-explanatory), but the Detector_Status is always taking too long to finish (and screwing up my daily deliveries)... I haven't found any detailed explanations about the upgrades anywhere, so I've decided to give it a shot here.

Both sensitivity and frequency, quality is purely cosmetic and makes the image for signal more clear/higher resolution.

One tiny little suggestion, could you possibly make the '0' and the '8' more of a contrast to eachother in the server minigames? Too many times I've lost because they look so similar!
They are very distinguishable, the 8 has very clear indents while the 0 is almost like a square with rounded edges.

I went on story mode, and while trying to get a signal on the machine thing:
The signal dissapeared as soon as I pressed enter around 6 times
It had a sensor error around 4 times
And randomly just didn't feel like it

From videos, I've seen the game is good and I've tried downloading it, one small issue is that I can't run it (top fps is 10), I can tell you're actively optimizing the game, I've tried the oldest and newest version, I've noticed the fps gets better the further I go up in versions, so thank you for trying and good luck with development, I just hope some day I can play it myself.
Can you add an option to disable the generator power from going down, just like you can disable player damage and daily task penalty?
Can someone tell me where to put the files for custom paintings and posters with the latest update? Older files had a folder for the paintings but I am not sure where I should put them in the latest update.
iirc the ingame help menu tells you where to put them, but the files go into C:/Users/(you)/AppData/Local/VotV/Assets
The AppData folder is hidden by default on windows, so if it's not there go to 'View' at the top and check 'Hidden items'
For some reason I get this bug where the GUI hitbox is lower than it should be, making it hard to navigate the pause screen and my inventory. Anyone got any idea?
